Saturday: Beth (exchange student), Karin (third host mom), Marie (host mom), and I went to the oldest city in all of Sweden, Sigtuna! Sigtuna was founded over a thousand years ago!
While there we went to a yard sale at a church...
...went to a chocolate factory where Anna(host sister) used to work to pick up some dessert...
...and of course got fika at the oldest building in the town! It was very cute and all the waiters dressed up like they would back in the day.
Then we went to a castle museum called Hallwylska museet. The castle was owned by the prince who owned at least 5 other castles through all of Sweden! My favorite room was the ballroom that was never actually completed because of the prince's death.

We had a very nice picnic out in the acres of field that belong to the castle. The weather has been amazing! Perfect blue skies for the past week! Everyone tells me that this is unusually nice weather for this time of year; but hey I'm not complaining one bit! After lunch we went home, but only for a long enough time to change clothes and shoes for horseback riding!! We took a two hour trail ride on Icelandic horse (bigger than Shetland Ponies, but smaller than normal horses you see). I didn't catch the name of my horse because the women organizing the ride was in a rush getting the horses and also it was a Swedish name said with a Swedish accent so I have no idea what she told me. We wandered through the woods for a while and finally came to a huge field that we rode along side for a while. The sun was just setting at this time and the sky was a beautiful!! It was a perfect way to end a wonderful day.
Sunday:
Sunday brought a whole new adventure. I went with Emma (my third family host sister), Anders (3rd host dad), and Beth to spend the day canoeing with Emma's scout troop! It was the perfect day: not too hot but very warm, and not windy at all. Since Emma is only 11, Beth and I helped all of the scouts into the canoes. There were about 30 scouts there plus leaders put us to about 40 people so we went into the water in three groups. Likely I was allowed to stay in the water for two of the groups.
Once out of the water we went to get some lunch: hotdogs cooked over a campfire!
As you can see it doesn't look like I am eating a hotdog. Well I'm not, it is bread ! We took a chunk of dough and made it into a skinny tube shape and rapped it around a stick to roast over the campfire! It is such a good idea and was really good, I can't believe I had never thought of it before.
Emma, Beth and I decided to walk home on a trail along the river. We tried to communicate with Emma, and she tried to communicate with us but not everything was translated. I do think that I understood more of what she said today than when we went for a bike ride last weekend. When I got home Johan (host brother) and his girlfriend came over to eat dinner with us. After such a great weekend I am absolutely exhausted and am ready to hit the sack!
