Sverige Thanksgiving

To everyone who has ever played a major role in preparing a Thanksgiving feast for others:
YOU ARE SUPERHERO'S!!!!
I have never really prepared any main dish for Thanksgiving, only tasting all the food to make sure it is not poisonous :) or naming the turkey...not really anything important.  But having to plan all the dishes, shop for all the ingredients (in a foreign language might I add), prepare it all, and sit down at a table with our families all jolly and ready to stay up late socializing was...a challenge to say the least.
Mom, Dad:  Thank you for the past 15 years of Thanksgivings, I do not know how you did it.  And next year I can guarantee that I will be helping out a lot more!
Me and two other exchange students came together and we each picked a couple recipes we had from home therefore splitting up all the recipes.  Beth (California) made the yams, gravy, and apple pie.  Sierra (Utah) made the stuffing, rolls, cranberry sauce and helped me with the green bean casserole.  And I made the mashed potatoes, green bean casserole (with help), turkey, and pumpkin pie.

           Meet Beorgia the turkey

But most everything was done Saturday
 The kitchen crew
Yams and apple pie had to learn to share the oven :)

We took many doggy petting breaks as the Lindhagens are the only host family that have a dog and Sierra and I are in love with dogs.
And we waited for Beorgia to finish cooking...
 ...and waited...
 ...took a couple naps...

...went a little delusional after being in the kitchen for 8 hours...

 ...took some more naps...

...And finally!  She was ready!  Well a bit over ready...When we took her out of the roasting pan she kind of fell apart.  But I was so worried that she would be under-cooked that it was a great moment when I saw she was done.

Starters for the parents as they patiently waited for Beorgia for longer than expected.

And finally we could all sit down and enjoy the meal
We let the man of the house carve the turkey

It was a great night.  None of the Swedes had ever tasted any of the flavors we prepared and were all in heaven.  But of course as the American with 15 years of Thanksgiving dinners to compare it to, it wasn't the best food.  Maybe the most memorable Thanksgiving but not the best food...Oh well. It was my first time cooking the meals so hopefully will just keep getting better in the years to come.
Crazy Swedes didn't know what was edible and what was not :)
